About Me
Sreeyan Nampally
I'm Sreeyan Nampally, a high school student passionate about medicine, music, and making a difference in people's lives. Through volunteering at my local hospital and nursing home, and conducting cancer research at Johns Hopkins, I've learned that healing goes beyond medical treatment.
My love for singing has also shown me how music can bring comfort, joy, and hope during difficult times. These experiences inspired me to create Care Beyond Cancer, a passion project dedicated to supporting children facing cancer through music, education, acts of kindness, and community service. My hope is to build a community where every child feels cared for, supported, and never alone in their journey.
My Research
1) Early Mortality After Curative-Intent Proton & Photon Therapy: A Retrospective Study
Under the mentorship of Dr. Aditya Halthore, Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Johns Hopkins, I am contributing to research examining short-term mortality among cancer patients receiving proton and photon radiation therapy at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
As a co-author of a 3,300+ word research paper, I am helping explore important questions about patient outcomes following these two approaches to radiation treatment.
This experience has deepened my understanding of cancer care and strengthened my commitment to improving the lives of patients through both scientific research and compassionate support.
2) Increasing Awareness of Ayurveda in U.S. Preventive Healthcare: Insights from Practitioners
My research explores the potential role of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine, in promoting preventive healthcare and overall wellness. Through a review of scientific studies, I aim to raise awareness of traditional Ayurvedic practices, particularly the use of natural foods, herbs, and lifestyle habits, while examining the scientific evidence supporting their health benefits.
My goal is to bridge traditional knowledge and modern medicine by encouraging an evidence-based understanding of how Ayurvedic practices may complement conventional preventive care.

Carnatic and A Cappella Music
Studied Carnatic vocal music for nine years and performed with Wootton’s a cappella group. Helped record music, perform for the community, raise funds, and train younger singers.

Varsity and Club Volleyball
Played as a middle blocker while learning discipline, teamwork, time management, and leadership.

Teaching
Taught math and English to elementary and middle school students at Best Brains Learning Center.
